Lowville, NY- Voters will elect a mayor and trustee

2025 resignation
of elected mayor Joe Beagle. On February 03, 2025, the Village
of Lowville Board of Trustees held a special meeting and appointed
deputy mayor and trustee Dan Salmon to fill the position of
mayor until an election to be held in March of 2026. On February 26, 2025,
the Village of Lowville Board of Trustees appointed
Jeanna Judd to fill the vacant trustee seat created by the
appointment of Mr. Salmon as mayor.
The process
for potential candidates to appear on the March 18th ballot opened
in late December, with a deadline to file completed petitions with the
Lewis County Board of Elections by February 10th.
Just one
candidate completed the process, with Dan Salmon filing petitions to appear
on the ballot for the position of mayor. No candidates filed to appear on the
ballot for the trustee position, with write-in votes expected to decide who
will fill the seat.
The mayor
position will fill the remainder of Mr. Beagle’s original term, running
through March of 2027, while the trustee seat will fill the remainder of
Mr. Salmon’s original trustee term which runs through March of 2028.
The election will
take place on March 18, 2026, with polls open from 12 PM to 9 PM. Voting
