Lowville, NY- Former Beaver River Central School Principal Joshua J. Stamp
appeared in Lewis County Court this morning, with the Honorable Daniel R.
King presiding, for sentencing on a charge of Acting in a Manner Injurious to a
    Child.

Mr. Stamp pleaded guilty to the charge, as part of a plea deal, during an
October 26 appearance. The plea deal satisfied all charges in a three-count
indictment handed up by a Lewis County Grand Jury in July. The charges did
not involve any student in the Beaver River school district.

With the guilty plea, Mr. Stamp admitted to subjecting a female under the age
of seventeen to "unwanted physical contact and inappropriate verbally
suggestive adult communication," in the Town of Croghan, between October 1,
2016 and January 21, 2017, according to court documents.

Mr. Stamp was sentenced to serve a three year probation term and was
ordered to pay $250 in court fees. An no-contact order of protection was issued
on behalf of the victim for a period of five years.

Beaver River Central School terminated Mr. Stamp's employment during a vote
at a December 29, 2017 meeting of the board of education. That move came
after Mr. Stamp was placed on leave on November 15, 2017, while the Lewis
County Sheriff's Office was conducting an investigation. Mr. Stamp started
employment at the district in July of 2017, previously working at the
    Gouverneur Central School District.
