on Friday, February 17, 2017, with Judge Daniel R. King presiding: Sentencing: James E. Hall, II, 39, of Copenhagen was sentenced on charges of first- degree Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child, a class "B" felony and Endangering the Welfare of a Child a class "A" misdemeanor. See full story here. Joshua D. Ortlieb, 23, Beaver Falls, was sentenced to six-months in Lewis County Jail and a ten-year probation term on a charge of third-degree Rape, to which he pleaded guilty on January 20th. He was additionally ordered to pay $1,425 in court fees and must register as a level 2 sex offender. An order of protection was entered on behalf of the victim for an eight-year period. He was arrested in October after being accused of having sexual relations with a person under the age of seventeen, during May, in the Village of Lowville. Rusty J. Woods, 34, Harrisville, was sentenced on a charge of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated following successful completion of the Lewis County Drug Court program. He received a five-year probation term along with an eighteen-month revocation of his drivers license. Additionally, he was ordered to pay a $1,500 fine and $520 in court fees. He must participate in a Victim Impact Panel and will be required to use a vehicle interlock device for a twelve- month period. A 17-year-old Natural Bridge youth pleaded guilty to a charge of Petit Larceny, a class "A" misdemeanor. Judge King then granted him youthful offender status, imposing a sentence of a three-year probation term and 50- hours of community service. He was additionally ordered to pay $200 in court fees. The youth was accused of stealing a gas can in the Town of Diana in October. PLEAS: Joshua S. Alexander, 33, Copenhagen, entered a GUILTY plea to the charge of fourth-degree Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance, a class "C" felony. Sentencing in the case was adjourned to March 31st. Mr. Alexander was accused of selling methadone in the Town of Croghan on May 18, 2016. He was one of sixteen people arrested during the 'Operation Northern Watch' drug sweep in September. Jessie J. Bourgeois, 35, Port Leyden pleaded GUILTY to an amended charge of third-degree Attempted Criminal Mischief, a class "A" misdemeanor, and a charge of second-degree Menacing, a class "A" misdemeanor. Sentencing was set for March 3rd. Mr. Bourgeois was accused of damaging items belonging to his mother and wielding an ax during a dispute in November of 2015. Nathan C. Burriss, 24, Lowville, entered a GUILTY plea to a charge of Sexual Misconduct, a class "A" misdemeanor. Sentencing in the case was adjourned until April 7th. Mr. Burriss is accused of having sexual intercourse with a 16 year-old female at a residence in the Town of Lowville in September of 2016. Kaige C. Gagnon, 19, Gouverneur, entered a GUILTY plea to a charge of third-degree Unlawful Manufacturing of Methamphetamine, a class "D" felony. Judge King then placed him on Interim Conditions of Probation for a one-year period, with final sentencing set for February 16, 2018. Mr. Gagnon was arrested on August 2nd, following a traffic stop in the Village of Lowville, when meth making materials were located in his vehicle. Julie A. Greene, 32, Lowville, pleaded GUILTY to a charge of second-degree Criminal Contempt, a class "A" misdemeanor, as well as one count of second- degree Harassment, a violation. The case was adjourned to March 31st for sentencing. Ms. Greene was accused of violating a court order of protection on December 4th in the Town of Watson, where she caused unwanted physical contact and bruising to the protected party. Jeffrey F. Jantzi, 39, Lowville, pleaded GUILTY to both Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs, an unclassified misdemeanor and second-degree Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle, also an unclassified misdemeanor. Sentencing was set for April 7th. Mr. Jantzi was arrested after a crash on the Brantingham Road in the Town of Greig on August 28th, while operating a vehicle under the influence of marijuana and methamphetamine, with a suspended license. Drew A. Makuch, 18, Lowville, entered a GUILTY plea to a charge of third- degree Burglary, a class "D" felony. He was then placed on Interim Conditions of Probation for a one-year period, with final sentencing scheduled for February 16, 2018. Mr. Makuch was accused of entering a building on the Patridgeville Road in the town of Greig in February of 2016, with the intent to steal items. |
