| New Route For Boonville - Oneida County Fair Parade 07/23/15 11:30am |
Boonville- This year the annual parade for the Boonville - Oneida County Fair has been rerouted off from Main Street. This has a some people upset. The Tuesday, July 28, 2015 parade will begin on the corner of Academy and Charles Street, it will go up Academy towards Post Street, turn right onto Post Street and then a left onto Ford Street, up to the Fairgrounds. Due to the big confusion with the Fair Parade, the Boonville Fair Association will be offering Free Admission to the Fair between the hours of 5pm - 7pm on Tuesday, July 28th. They hope that many community members can come and view the parade from the free grandstand as well as enjoying a nice evening at the Fair.
situation: A STATEMENT FROM SEN GRIFFO ON CHANGES TO BOONVILLE PARADE ROUTE: My office was first made aware on Tuesday that the longtime parade route to kick-off next week’s Boonville Oneida County Fair had been changed for the first time from its traditional path to an alternate route. We have received a number of phone calls from upset and concerned residents who expressed their disappointment with this year’s decision to not bring the parade down Main Street in Boonville, which has been the parade’s route of choice for more than 100 years. As soon as we learned about this development, my office spoke with all relevant parties including officials with the Village of Boonville and the Boonville Oneida County Fair, as well as representatives of the New York State Department of Transportation and the New York State Police. At this time, all of the involved officials have concluded that the alternate route is going to remain as this year’s planned route for the parade. But, recognizing that this change to such a beloved parade has made so many people unhappy, it is our plan to bring all of the involved parties together as soon as possible for a discussion to make sure that next year’s parade can return to the traditional route that has been followed for more than a century. |
