Lowville- The Lewis County Civil Service Commission has announced an open-
    competitive civil service examination to fill future vacancies for Account Clerk and
    Audit Clerk in Lewis County departments and school districts. The exam will be
    held on October 10, 2015 with an application filing deadline of September 15.
    There is a $15 exam filing fee, which can be waived under certain circumstances.

    The minimum qualifications to apply for the exam include:
    Candidates must meet the following requirement on or before the last day for
    filing: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency
    diploma and one year of clerical experience maintaining financial accounts and
    records. NOTE: Successful completion of coursework in accounting, business
    administration, or closely related field at a regionally accredited college or
    university, or one accredited by the New York State Board of Regents to grant
    degrees, may be substituted for the required experience with three semester
    credit hours of related coursework as indicated above being equivalent to three
    months of experience.

    Starting salaries for the position are:
    County: $14.53 hr. - $15.70 hr. – Account Clerk and Audit Clerk
    Hospital: $12.76 hr. - $16.84 hr. – Account Clerk
    School Districts: Varies by district.
