Lowville- Through a pair of resolutions on the agenda at its September 1st
    regular monthly meeting, the Lewis County Board of Legislators will move to
    send two individuals to the New York State Food and Beverage Trade Mission to
    China.

    The NY Empire State Development ("ESD") awarded Lyndaker's Maple Orchard
    and Moser's Maple LLC grant funding from the NYS Food and Beverage trade
    mission under the “State Trade and Export Promotion (“STEP”) Global NY
    Export program. The grant will cover 90% of up to$2,700 in travel expenses for
    each participant.

    Lyndaker's Maple Orchard selected the Executive Director of Cornell
    Cooperative Extension, Michele Ledoux, to represent their company at the
    mission, while Moser's Maple chose Lewis County Director of Planning, Frank
    Pace.

    The resolutions, introduced by Legislator Lawrence Dolhoff, Chairmen of the
    Economic Development Committee, would authorize the county to approve
    $10,000 (from the Economic Development Marketing Account) for advance
    expenses for the China trip, taking place from September 13, 2015 to September
    19, 2015, where a free trade zone has been set up to market New York products.

    Contained in each resolution is a "Memorandum of Understanding" between the
    county and both Lyndaker's Maple Orchard and Moser's Maple, for each
    company to submit the proper paperwork and turn over the grant monies if and
    when received, to re-capture some of the funds spent by the county on this
    marketing mission.

    The resolutions state the anticipated cost to the county is $895 for each
    participant. This would be the 10% not covered through the grant and the
    additional cost above the $2,700 the grant covers. The maximum amount set to
    cover unreimbursed funds is $1,000 per participant

    Ms. Ladoux will be attending the meeting in China solely to promote Lyndaker's
    Maple Orchard and it's products, according to the resolution, while Mr. Pace will
    be promoting Moser's Maple and the Lewis County maple industry.

    The resolutions also state that the Board of Legislators seeks to authorize this
    travel, expense and agreement in order to further the Lewis County economic
    development of and to promote and market the maple industry overseas.
