Lowville- The Lewis County Board of Legislators will hold their regular monthly
meeting at 5 PM, on Tuesday, July 7th, in the second floor board room, at the
Court House in Lowville. A busy session is planned with 38 resolutions on the
agenda.
A summary of some of the items up for discussion and approval include:
- Authorizing a grant application for the Double Play Sports Community Center
Project, which plans for a 35,000 square foot building at an estimated cost of
$6.5 million to host a variety of activities and amenities on a year round basis.
- Authorizing a grant application for the Miller Riverfront Park Project on the
Number Four Road. The county desires to create a public access to the Black
River and construct a walking trail, picnic area, floating dock and historical
signage at the location owned by Daniel J. Miller.
- Approving $6,000 to the Center for Community Studies at Jefferson Community
College for a Lewis County Office for the Aging Service Needs Assessment, as
required by the NYS Office for the Aging for development of a new Four Year
Plan for 2015-2020.
- Appoint Timothy O'Connor, of Lowville, to the Lewis County Ethics Board through
December 31, 2016, to the seat resigned by David Pedergast on April 30.
- Appoint Donna Beyer, of West Leyden, to the Lewis County Office for the Aging
Advisory Council through December 31, 2017.
- Appoint Jennifer Jones, of Beaver Falls, to Commissioner of Lewis County
Department of Social Services, effective July 8, 2015.
- Appoint Student Representatives Morgan Austin, of South Lewis and Olivia
Brooker, of Lowville Academy & Central School, as members of the Lewis County
Youth Bureau Advisory Board effective July 7, 2015 until graduation or no longer
students.
- Transfer of $125,000 in funds from the Capitol Economic Development Fund
account to the Lewis County Industrial Development Association conditioned on
the funds being used explicitly as a loan fund for the Village of Lowville Business
Community Development Grant Project and other "Main Street Development
Programs".
- Establish Standard Work Day for elected and appointed officials.
- Create the position of two temporary full-time Community Services Workers at
the Department of Social Services from September 14, 2015through April 1, 2016.
- Create Motor Vehicle Application Examiner position full-time to be filled
immediately.
- Create Nutrition Services Coordinator position full-time at the Office for the Aging
to be filled effective July 13, 2015
- Authorize "No Parking Zone" signs on both sides of County Route 55 (Deer River
Road), just west of Limburg Forks Road, for public safety.
- Authorize the Director of Recreation, Forestry and Parks Department to execute
landowner agreements regarding county properties with local snowmobile clubs.
