AI-generated content may be incorrect.TURIN- Michael Edward Paczkowski, 80, of State Route 26, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Wynn Hospital, Utica.

 

He is survived by two children, Piper Cason and her husband, David Pozorski and their daughter, Trinity of St. Louis, MO, Blair Paczkowski of Albany; his siblings, Teena Barwick of Austin, TX; Timothy and Tina Paczkowski of Lyons Falls; Linda and Stanley Winiarski of Greig; Mark Paczkowski of Turin; nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by a son, Dean Paczkowski, who passed away at one week old in 1973.

 

Mr. Paczkowski was born on January 30, 1946 in Lowville, NY, a son of the late Stanley Leo and Catherine Peterson Paczkowski.  He graduated from General Martin High School in 1963 and was drafted in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.  He was honorably discharged as a 1st Lieutenant.  A marriage to Jane Hurdman, later ended in divorce. Mike worked at Kraft in Lowville from 1972 to 2005, upon retirement. 

 

Mike was deeply passionate about sports, coaching, and the outdoors. He spent years sharing that love as a ski instructor at Snow Ridge and as a coach for the South Lewis High School ski, cross country, and track teams.

 

An active athlete throughout his life, Mike was an avid runner, downhill and cross-country skier, plus a long-distance cyclist.  He crossed the finish line at the Boilermaker multiple times and participated in many bike and cross- country ski races.  He was also a long-standing member of the U.S. Ski & Snowboard Association (USSA).  Behind the camera, Mike had a talent for outdoor photography, especially capturing local barns and flowers.  His eye for detail earned him recognition when he won an award for his photograph of windmills.

 

A Military Honors service will be at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., 5702 Waters Road, Lowville.  Calling hours are from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 10, 2026, prior to the Military Honors service, at the funeral home.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Turin Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Turin Volunteer Fire Department, P. O. Box 35, Turin, NY 13473.
