Town of Denmark, NY- The Town of Denmark announces the completion of infrastructure upgrades outlined in their 5-year plan with an upgrade to the sidewalk and parking lot.

The Town utilized Federal American Rescue Plan Act Funds to cover the cost to outfit all building entrances with handicapped door openers. A crumbling sidewalk has been replace and an inadequate parking lot has been upgraded.  There are now two handicapped parking spaces for cars and one handicapped parking space for vans. The upgraded parking lot even features a “horse hitch” under a tree for our Amish constituents. The old parking lot, which could accommodate 10 vehicles, has been expanded to include 42 spaces now.

Town Supervisor Scott Doyle notes that the Town has one of the busiest courts in Lewis County. On any given Wednesday there could be between 30-40 vehicles on site for court proceedings.

The project was planned to coincide with the arrival of a $69,313 Federal Rebate from the Solar Array that was installed in 2023 and a $5,000 Grant received from Clean Energy Communities for LED parking lot lighting in late 2024, leaving $6,200 to be covered by the Town’s fund balance.

The Town would like to recognize its partners for the project, The Town of Denmark Highway Department and our Shared Services Communities, IDH LLC, Paverite, and Mainline Electric.
