State Police Issue More Than 19,000 Tickets During
First Ever Fall Safe Speed Initiative
The New York
State Police today announced that it issued a total of 19,168 tickets
statewide during the first ever Fall Safe Speed initiative. The special
enforcement period began on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, and ran through
Sunday, September 27, 2026, and targeted speeding, aggressive driving, and
violations of the Move Over Law.
Troopers issued
9,344 tickets for speeding and 492 total tickets for Move Over Law
violations.
As part of the
enforcement campaign, troopers also targeted dangerous and aggressive
drivers across the state. The following is a sampling
of tickets issued during the campaign:
Speeding: 9,344
Distracted Driving: 415
Seat Belt Violations: 603
Move Over Law Violations: 492
Although this is
the first time conducting this initiative, there
were significant increases in activity when compared to the same week last
year. From September 23, 2025, through September 28, 2025, State Police
issued a total of 12,040 tickets, including 3,826 for speeding and 166 for
Move Over Law violations.
