GLENFIELD- Sami Furr, 86,
of N. Chases Lake Road, passed away on Monday September 14, 2026 at Wynn Hospital, Utica.
Sami is survived
by her beloved husband, James Carson Furr; eight children, Sandy, Lisa,
Linda, David, Teddy, Wendy, Jimmy, Jamie; 18 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren,
a brother, Leland Wayne Burnham. She
is predeceased by a son, Walter Carl Wahl Jr., who passed away in infancy;
her daughter, Laurie; and her son Chucky.
Sami was born on
September 25, 1939 in Lowville, NY, a daughter of
the late Leland “Ted” Burnham and Laura Jane Rennie Burnham. She attended General Martin Central
School in Glenfield. A marriage to
Walter Carl Wahl ended in divorce.
Sami later married James Carson Furr in 1974. She received her diploma in taxidermy in
1976 from North Western University. Together with her husband, they owned and
operated Furr’s Taxidermy for 22 years and Tackle, Treats & Treasures
in Connecticut with her husband James for 11 Years. Sami was a member of CAT, Connecticut
Association-North American Hunting and North American Fishing Clubs. She loved to fish, hunt, collect &
read books, spend time at Stony Lake cabin, and spoil her grandchildren,
and great grandchildren.
There will be no
services at this time. A Celebration
of Life gathering will be held at the convenience of the family. Sami has generously donated her body as
an Anatomical Gift to SUNY Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY.
