 Richard Paul Lovenduski, 88, of
Martinsburg, New York, a devoted father, grandfather, and
great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on Alger Road on
September 8, 2026, surrounded by his five loving children.
Richard was born
on April 13, 1938, in Turin, New York, to Stanley and Mary (Swiernik) Lovenduski.
Richard is
survived by his five children: his twin daughters, Rebecca and her husband
Greg Kafer, and Sarah and her husband Ted Kogut; daughter Christine
Lovenduski; son Richard and his wife Molly Lovenduski; and son Chad and his
wife Jennifer Lovenduski.
He is survived by
his beloved siblings, Josephine Kulpa, Sophie (Gene) Sunderhaft,
and Maryann (Tony) Maurer; and his sister-in-law, Barbara Lovenduski, and
several nieces and nephews.
He is predeceased
by his parents; his brothers, Walter and Robert Lovenduski; and his
brother-in-law, Adolph Kulpa.
Richard’s
greatest pride and joy was his family. He was a devoted son and father who
took on the roles of both mother and father while raising his children,
doing everything he could to keep his family together. His love, strength,
determination, and unwavering devotion shaped the lives of his children and
will continue through the generations that follow.
He leaves behind
thirteen grandchildren: Hannah Haase, Herbie (Christa) Marolf, Kyle Marolf,
Jessica Lyndaker, Carson Truesdale, Page (Brandon) Fayle, Cole (Cassandra)
Bacon, Ronni Taylor (Joe) D’Agostino, Jaden (Jack) Sorenson, Madison
Simpson, Isabelle Lovenduski, Meredith Lovenduski, and Lane Lovenduski.
He was also a
proud great-grandfather to Jayden Bennington, Milliana Marolf, Kenneth
“Kage” Maxey, Evelynn Marolf, Izabelle Marolf, Olivia Marolf, Charlotte
Marolf, Cadence Paragon, Blake Lyndaker, Amelia Fayle, Mara D’Agostino, and
Tage D’Agostino.
Richard spent his
early working years enjoying his time at Snow Ridge Ski Resort. He later
raised his children on the dairy farm on West Road, where so many family
memories were made. He went on to finish his working career at the Lewis
County Highway Department, retiring at the age of 84. Richard especially
loved his work there and the people who became his extended work family.
Outside of work
and family, Richard enjoyed flying, downhill skiing, fly fishing, and
Polish dances. He especially cherished the time he spent with his
grandchildren and the simple moments of being surrounded by the people he
loved.
Those who knew
Richard also knew of his love for instant coffee and anything chocolate—two
simple pleasures that were unmistakably his.
Richard’s
greatest legacy is not found in the jobs he held or the places he went, but
in the family he devoted his life to. He taught
his children the meaning of perseverance, family, and unconditional love.
His presence was a constant, and his absence will
leave a space that can never truly be filled.
He leaves behind
a family who loved him deeply, a lifetime of memories, and generations who
will carry his love and his story forward.
He was our
father, our grandfather, our great-grandfather, and the heart of our
family.
He is deeply
loved, and will be forever remembered, and profoundly missed.
A funeral Mass
will be said at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday September 12, 2026
at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church, Houseville, with
Rev. Sony G. Pulickal, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Martinsburg
Cemetery. A luncheon in St. Hedwig’s
Parish Hall will immediately follow the burial, all are welcome. Any food donations may be brought
directly to St. Hedwig’s Parish Hall on Saturday before the funeral. Calling hours are from 4:00 p.m. -7:00
p.m. on Friday September 11, 2026 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
