AI-generated content may be incorrect.WATERTOWN- Richard “Dick” Tabolt, formerly of Lowville, passed away on September 14, 2026 after a brief illness.

 

Richard was born in Lowville in 1938, son of Francis and Hazel Lomber Tabolt. After graduation from Lowville Academy and Hartford Airline School, he was employed by the airlines in NYC. Richard later returned to Lowville and bought the family farm. He operated the farm from 1959-1993 and then worked as a bus driver until his retirement in 2013. Richard was involved in several farm organizations and served in town government for many years. He was a life member of the Lowville Elks , BPOE #1605 and was elected as the Exalted Ruler in 1973. Richard also served as a Board of Education member in Lowville for several years. Richard’s passions away from work were collecting antique cars and flying airplanes. He was a licensed pilot.

 

Richard married Barbara Ball in 1960. Two daughters were born of this marriage: Cynthia (Douglas) Hawk and Virginia (Keith) Lyons. Barbara passed away in 1992. Richard married Ruth Verotis in 1994. They have resided in Watertown for many years. In addition to his daughters, Richard is survived by his grandsons, Andrew (Megan) Hawk of Bath, NY and Evan Lyons of Bronx, NY, two great-granddaughters, a nephew, many cousins and extended family. He was predeceased by his brother Donald Tabolt and sister Jane Ostresh. 

 

A private graveside service will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery in New Bremen with Rev. Joseph A. Morgan, officiating, at the convenience of the family.  Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Jefferson County, 1398 Gotham Street, Watertown, NY 13601.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
