The Lowville Free Library Board of Trustees is
pleased and excited to share the following introductory greeting from our new library Director, Karissa Gerdon:
 Hello everyone,
First, I would like to express how thankful I am for
the opportunity to serve the community through the Lowville Free Library.
My time here so far has been wonderful, and I am grateful for the warm
welcome, encouragement, and kind words I have received.
A little about me: I am a lifelong resident of Lewis
County and am proud to call this area home. I grew up in Croghan and spent
many hours at the library throughout my childhood and young adulthood,
which helped foster my appreciation for the important role libraries play
in a community. My professional journey began at the Croghan Free Library,
where I first worked as a summer intern through the Pratt Northam
Foundation before joining the organization as a permanent staff member.
Along the way, I have also had the
opportunity to work with Cazenovia Equipment Company, now Sydenstricker
Nobbe Partners, and South Lewis Central School.
While each position has been unique, the common thread throughout my career
has been a commitment to serving others. I was raised to value hard work,
take pride in a job well done, and treat others with respect. These
principles continue to guide me today, and I look forward to bringing them
to my role at the Lowville Free Library.
I know I have some big shoes to fill, and my goal is
to build upon the strong foundation already in place while continuing the
library's positive momentum. As we move through this transition together, I
appreciate your patience and support.
