LOWVILLE, NY - Lewis County Health System is pleased to welcome Board-Certified Orthopedic Physician Assistants Karen Fish, PA-C, and Sarah Finnigan, PA-C, to the medical staff.  The physician assistants will see patients at Lewis County Orthopedics, located on the main hospital campus, in Lowville.

"We are delighted to welcome Physician Assistants Karen Fish, PA-C and Sarah Finnigan, PA-C to the Lewis County Health System family,” stated Jeffery Hellinger, MBA, Chief Executive Officer.  “As demand for orthopedic services and sports medicine care continues to grow across our region, expanding our provider team is vital and allows us to expand access for North Country residents.”

Karen Fish, PA-C, is a retired U.S. Army Major with over 20 years of experience in orthopedic surgery, primary care, and combat casualty care.  She received her Master of Physician Assistant Studies and Bachelor of Science from the University of Nebraska College of Medicine/Interservice Physician Assistant Program, Omaha, NE.  She also earned an Associate of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Studies at George Washington University in DC.  Fish is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA).

Sarah Finnigan, PA-C, is a seasoned Physician Assistant with over 15 years of medical experience in both the U.S. Army and the civilian sector.  She received her Master of Physician Assistant Studies and Bachelor of Science from the University of Nebraska Medical Center/Interservice Physician Assistant Program in Omaha, NE.  She also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations and Advertising from Loyola University Chicago in Chicago, IL.  Finnigan is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants (AAPA) and the American Association of Surgical Physician Assistants (AASPA).

In addition to well-rounded orthopedic training and surgical assistant experience, Fish and Finnigan received numerous honors and awards for their military service.  Before joining Lewis County Orthopedics, Fish and Finnigan were affiliated with the North Country Orthopedic Group in Watertown, NY.

Dr. Sean Harney, Chief Medical Officer of Employed Practices at LCHS, says, “Delivering healthcare requires a dynamic, well-trained team. Two additional advanced practice providers will strengthen our clinical depth, further enhance surgical support, reduce wait times, and provide improved continuity of care from the clinic to the operating room."

The Physician Assistants join physicians Steven Kaplan, MD; Greg Keller, MD; Carolyn Hettrich, MD, MPH; Shane Woolf, MD; and Evan Leibelsperger, PA-C.  For more information or to schedule an appointment, please call Lewis County Orthopedics at 315-376-4505.
