United Way of Northern New York Opens 2027 Community Impact Grant Application Process

Funding supports programs that impact the lives of more than 31,000 local residents each year

NORTHERN NEW YORK — United Way of Northern New York (UWNNY) is now accepting applications for its 2027 Community Impact Grants, inviting eligible nonprofit organizations to apply for funding that supports programs improving the lives of more than 31,000 people each year across Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties. Applications will be accepted through Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Community Impact Grants support programs that align with United Way’s primary focus areas: Health / Wellness, Child / Youth Success, and Economic Stability. Through these investments, United Way partners with local nonprofits to address some of Northern New York’s most pressing challenges, helping children succeed, strengthening families, improving health, and creating pathways to greater financial stability.

“Every gift entrusted to United Way represents an investment in our community,” said Dawn Cole, President and CEO of United Way of Northern New York. “Our responsibility is to ensure those dollars are invested wisely, thoughtfully and strategically. That’s why trained community volunteers carefully review every eligible application, evaluate program outcomes, discuss emerging community needs, and develop funding recommendations that are ultimately presented to our Board of Directors for approval.”

Following the application deadline, trained volunteer reviewers representing a broad cross-section of the community independently evaluate each eligible proposal using a standardized scoring process. Review teams then meet to share perspectives, consider emerging community needs and trends, and reach consensus on funding recommendations before presenting them to the United Way Board of Directors for final approval.

Complete information, including eligibility requirements and access to the online application portal, is available at https://unitedway-nny.org/community-impact-grants
