Nellenback, 65, lifelong resident of Rhimiller
Road, passed away peacefully at his home following a brief illness on
Saturday, August 15, 2026.
He was born on
January 30, 1961, at Sunset Nursing and Maternity Home in Constableville, a
son of Anthony and Stella Cihocki Nellenback. Doug grew up in the West
Leyden area and graduated from Adirondack High School with the class of
1980. Following graduation, he went to work at Still’s Lumber Mill in Ava
before later becoming a CNC machine operator at Bartell Machinery Systems.
Doug last worked at Hubbard Tool and Die Co. in Rome, retiring in January
of 2024. On February 14, 2001, he married Cindy Wawrzyniak in West Leyden.
Doug was an avid
hunter and a workaholic. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards, cookouts,
riding four-wheelers, and camping. Above all, Doug cherished the time he
spent with his family.
He is survived by
his beloved wife of 25 years, Cindy; two sons, Douglas Nellenback and
Branden Nellenback (Morgan Szucs); one step-son, Robert Fruin; three
grandchildren, Arica and Evan Brinkerhoff and Lainey Nellenback; four
step-grandchildren, Kiya, Logan, and Charles Fruin and Victoria Hall; one
step great-grandchild, Grason Kranbuhl; his father and step-mother, Anthony
(Elaine) Nellenback; seven siblings, Penny (Bruce) Emerson, Tim Nellenback,
Janice (Duane) Roberts, Steve Nellenback, Jolene (Shawn) Sullivan, Julie
(Gary) Moscicki, and Barb (Bill) Belewich; the mother of his children,
Jannell Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.
Doug was
predeceased by his mother, Stella Marsden and his father and mother-in-law,
Vinny and Nancy Wawrzyniak.
Calling hours for
Doug will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026
from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post Street,
Boonville. Following calling hours, a celebration of Doug’s life will be
held at the Milk Plant Tavern, 1006 State Route 26, West Leyden, NY 13489,
all are welcome.
