LOWVILLE COMMUNITY JAZZ ENSEMBLE TO PERFORM AT HISTORICAL SOCIETY

On Wednesday, August 26 at 7:00 PM the not so historic but still amazing Lowville Jazz Orchestra will present a free concert at the Lewis County Historical Society on State Street in Lowville.

Music to be performed includes several styles and time periods of music.  Pop tunes that will be performed include a trio of songs from the classic band Chicago.  Their hits “Make Me Smile”, “Does Anyone Really Know What Time It is?”, and “25 or 6 to 4” are a challenge but the band really enjoys bringing them to life.  Other pop songs include Bobby Darin’s 1959 hit “Beyond the Sea”, the Kingsman classic “Louie , Louie” and Gonna Fly Now” from the “Rocky” motion picture.  Ballads to be performed include “Traces” by Classics IV, Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling in Love” and Louis Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World”.  Finally songs in the style of the big band era of the 1940’s include Duke Ellington’s “Caravan”,   “When Big Bands Ruled the Earth” and a percussion feature called “Hey Pachuco”.

The Village Jazz Orchestra includes many members from the Lowville Lowville Village Band Including village band conductors AJ Mccall and Kelly Kilcer.  Kelly performs on alto saxophone while AJ McCall conducts this ensemble.  Other members of the ensemble include Saxophones: Jason Gibson, Tamara Fidler, Kelly Kilcer, Carmen Miller, Karissa Widrick, and Zoey Riches.  The trumpet section includes Jeff Miller, Paul Buell, John Hastwell IV, and Jennifer Keefer.  On trombone, Mile Muller, Matt McGrath, Graze Metzler, Hailey Babcock, and Dina Olmstead.  Rounding out the group includes Ralph Vito on Bass Guitar, Hugo Zabielowicz on Guitar, Leon Austin on piano, and Matt McGrath and John Dixon on Drum Set.

This will most likely be the last concert of the Lowville Jazz Orchestra as they go on a fall break and regroup for the annual Community Christmas Concert. We hope to see you at the Lewis County Historical Society on August 26! A great evening of live entertainment by local musicians and its free!
