Fall 2026 at Constable Hall: Events, Activities and
Opportunities to Support a Historic Treasure
As summer begins
to wind down, Constable Hall is looking ahead to a busy fall filled with
opportunities to visit, learn, create, celebrate and support one of Lewis
County’s treasured historic landmarks. From garden plants and crafts to
fall flowers, ghost stories, Halloween adventures and holiday crafts, there
is something for visitors of all ages.
Fall Flower
Arrangement Workshop — September 15
Fall will bring a
special opportunity to explore the beauty of Constable Hall’s historic
gardens with the return of Heidi Van Zandt for a hands-on Fall Flower
Arrangement Workshop on Tuesday, September 15, at 5:30 p.m.
Participants are
asked to bring their own pruners and a container for their arrangement. The
group will walk through the gardens and grounds together, gathering
seasonal flowers, foliage and other natural materials. Heidi will share
tips, ideas and creative suggestions for turning these materials into
beautiful fall arrangements.
The workshop
is free, although donations to the Historic Garden Fund are
greatly appreciated. It is a wonderful opportunity to enjoy the gardens,
learn something new and take home a beautiful reminder of the season.
Constable Hall
Online Auction Returns October 9–13
One of Constable
Hall’s important annual fundraisers is just around the corner. The
Constable Hall Online Auction will open October 9 and continue through
October 13, with a soft closing on October 13.
The auction will
be conducted online through Adirondack Asset Auctions at adkauctions.com.
Community members and businesses are currently invited to donate items for
the auction. All donations must be received by October 6.
Winning bidders
will be able to pick up their purchases at the Servants Quarters at
Constable Hall on Wednesday, October 14, from 3 to 6 p.m.
The auction
provides an important source of funding for Constable Hall. Every
dollar raised goes directly toward the preservation and maintenance of the
historic home and grounds and helps support the Hall’s programs.
Whether you
donate an item, place a bid or simply share information about the auction,
your participation helps ensure that Constable Hall remains available for
future generations.
Death &
Drinks 2.0 Returns — Twice!
After last year’s
event filled quickly, Constable Hall is offering Death & Drinks
2.0 on two different dates this fall.
The first evening
will be Saturday, October 3, at 6 p.m., followed by a second opportunity on
Saturday, October 10, also at 6 p.m. Both events will take place at
Constable Hall.
Guests will hear
local ghost stories while roaming the historic home with a themed drink in
hand. The evening features a Victorian Wake Display by Trainor Funeral Home
and will culminate with a “gallery read” in the event tent featuring The
Mossy Burrow-Psychic and Evidential Medium, Cathy Pierce.
Admission is $20
per person. Because last year’s event reached capacity quickly, those
planning to attend should call 315-397-2323 to secure their spot. Prepaid
registration is required.
Trick or Treat at
the Hall
Halloween will
bring a new and expanded experience to Constable Hall on Saturday, October
31.
To begin the day,
Hunter Hack Farms will bring their carriage for rides from noon to 3 p.m.,
weather permitting. We invite all the ghosts and goblins to enjoy this fall
tradition and begin the Halloween fun. There is a $5 fee for the ride.
The Hall hopes to
offer two separate haunted trail experiences for different age groups.
Younger children can enjoy the Pond Trail and Veterans Path beginning at 4
p.m., following the Constableville Firehall Trunk or Treat, while older
kids and adults are invited to enjoy the very haunted Skenendoah
Trail. Children and families can also stop at the front veranda of
Constable Hall for candy.
Additional
details will be announced as the event approaches.
Create Your Own
Ceramic Christmas Ornament
The holiday
season will begin early at Constable Hall with a special hands-on workshop
on Sunday, November 8, at 1 p.m.
Registered
participants will have the opportunity to decorate their own real
ceramic Christmas ornament using special glazing materials
provided by KLF Artwork. Six different ornament shapes will be available,
making this a fun project for people of all ages.
The ornaments can
be personalized with names, special memories, pets or anything else
participants can imagine. They also make wonderful gifts and keepsakes.
KLF Artwork will
fire the finished ornaments at its shop, and they will be returned to
Constable Hall for pickup in early December.
The cost is just
$10 per ornament. Registration is required.
Visit Constable
Hall This Season
Constable Hall
has enjoyed a particularly successful season of tours, welcoming more
visitors than ever before. Regular tours will continue through September,
with the final regular tour day currently scheduled for September 9. After
that date, tours will still be available by reservation.
Those interested
in arranging a tour after the regular season should contact Constable Hall
at 315-397-2323.
Visitors are also
reminded that Constable Hall will be closed to tours and visitors on
September 4 while the historic home and grounds are being used for a
private wedding.
One especially
popular offering continues to be the Lunch and Tour, which
combines a guided tour of Constable Hall with lunch. The experience is $23
per person. More information is available at constablehall.org.
With events
ranging from history and gardening to crafts, golf, Halloween adventures
and holiday activities, Constable Hall continues to offer opportunities for
the community to enjoy this remarkable historic property throughout the
year.
