AI-generated content may be incorrect.LOWVILLE, NY- Viola M. Marolf, 89, a resident of Lewis Co. Residential Health Care Facility, Lowville, formerly of Turin, NY, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 in Lewis County General Hospital, Lowville.

 

Born September 27, 1936, in the Town of New Bremen, a daughter of William John and Mary Rose Dicob Aucter, she was educated at Dicobs Corners country school in Kirschnerville. She married Herbert N. Marolf on February 12, 1955. Mr. Marolf died on January 23, 2001.

 

Viola was a mother and homemaker for most of her life, taking care of her large family for many years and later for her siblings.

 

Throughout her life she enjoyed the comfort of cooking for her large family, especially with vegetables from her own garden which she tended to for many years. She also liked to sew, particularly rugs, and always liked to watch the EWTN Catholic Channel on television. She was a parishioner of St. Hedwig’s Church in Houseville for many years.

 

Surviving are her five children, Deborah (Robert) Bauer, of Constableville, Linda Ehlers, Pamela (Eugene) Monks, Herbert N. Marolf, all of Lyons Falls, Arnold F. (Wanda) Marolf, of Turin; 19 grandchildren, Jason, Justin, Austin, Hannah, Herbert, Kyle, Dylan, Wyatt, Jaelyn, Angie, Victor, Marissa, Thomas, Michael, Allan, Amy, Corey, Gage and Kayla, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

 

In addition to her loving husband, Herbert, of almost 46 years, she was predeceased by her son-in-law, Herbert Ehlers, her grandson, Cody Marolf, two brothers, Sylvester and Herbert Aucter, and two sisters, Cecile Aucter and Shirley Ardison.

 

Viola’s funeral service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2026, beginning with a 10:15 a.m. Prayer Service at Scanlon Funeral Home, Croghan, followed by an 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial from St. Stephen’s Church, Croghan, with Rev. Joseph Morgan, officiating. Burial will be in St. Stephen’s Cemetery, Croghan.

 

There will be no calling hours.
