Thomas W. Hanno
Lowville, NY- Thomas W. Hanno,
88, of Brookside Circle,
passed away Wednesday morning, July 29, 2026, at his home with his family and
caregivers by his side. Tom was formerly of Clinton Street.
Tom was born on June 18, 1938, in
Lowville, the son of the late Waite C. and Kathryn G. (Kelly) Hanno. He
graduated from General
Martin Central
School in 1956 and
continued his education at Mohawk Valley Technical Institute, graduating in
1958.
He proudly served
in the U.S. Army from 1961 until 1963 and was honorably discharged at Fort Knox, Kentucky.
Tom began his
banking career in October 1963 with National Bank of Northern
New York in Clayton. Following the merger of Key Bank of Northern New York and Central
New York, he transferred to Buffalo, where he settled in Amherst. He retired
from Commercial Operations in 1996.
After retiring,
Tom returned to Lowville, where he volunteered at the Lewis County Fair,
served as an election inspector, and worked at P & C. He was a faithful
communicant of St. Peter's Catholic Church and he enjoyed
bowling.
In addition to
his parents, Tom was predeceased by his sisters, Rita (James) Allen and
Mary H. (C. Dale) Widmeyer; and by his brothers, Paul F. (Dorothy) Hanno,
David (Helen) Hanno, Leo R. (Helen) Hanno, and Peter M. Hanno.
Tom is survived by his nieces and nephews, as well as
several great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Mass of
Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 4th at 10:00 A.M. at St. Peter's
Catholic Church with Rev. Sony G. Pulickal,
Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Old Glendale Cemetery.
