Donald F. “Don” Hunziker
GLENFIELD- Donald F. “Don” Hunziker, 96, of Glenfield passed
away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
He is survived by his beloved wife of more than 69
years, Charlotte; two daughters, Kathy Der of Lowville and Elaine Jackson
of Manlius; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; several nieces,
nephews and cousins. He is
predeceased by a son, Karl J. Hunziker; three sisters, Phyllis Hanno,
Janice Payne and Carol Price; four brothers, John "Bud" Hunziker,
Arthur "Glen" Hunziker, Richard Hunziker and William Hunziker.
Donald was born on November 25, 1929
in Lowville, NY, a son of the late John and Lena Frye Hunziker. He graduated from General Martin School
in 1947. After graduating he worked
for his father in his blacksmith shop and then went to work at George
Burdick's farm at Burdick Crossing before joining the U.S. Marine Corp
where he served from 1948 to 1952 . On June 1, 1957, he married Charlotte A.
Ebersol at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Lowville, with Father Murray
officiating. After his marriage, Don
went to work at the milk station in Glenfield, then for Georgia Pacific and
then to barber school in Schenectady.
He barbered in Glenfield for approximately five years while working
at the milk station. Don went on to
work for several businesses before going back to Lyons Falls Pulp and Paper,
working as a pipe fitter for 25 years until his retirement in 1990.
Don was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church,
Glenfield.
He was a life member of Lewis County Memorial Post
#6912.
Don enjoyed hunting and fishing when he was a
kid. He played softball for the
Hitching Post and baseball for the Glenfield Town team. Don also enjoyed traveling on bus trips,
but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He especially enjoyed his early morning
McDonald’s pancake delivery to his grandchildren.

Tuesday August 4, 2026 at Iseneker
Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville. A
funeral Mass will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday August 5, 2026 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville with Rev.
Sony G. Pulickal, Pastor, Officiating. Military Honors will immediately follow
Mass, at the church. After the
Military honors service, all are welcome to a luncheon in St. Peter’s
Church Hall. Burial will be in
Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery, Croghan, at the convenience of the
family. In lieu of flowers
