He was born in Lowville on July 28, 1946, a son of the late William and Ellen Sutton Reese. Dave grew up in the Constableville and Boonville areas and attended Boonville High School. On June 29, 1968, he married the love of his life, Marcia L. Roch, at the Boonville United Methodist Church. Dave worked for Chicago Pneumatic in Utica for several years before operating his in-laws’ general store in Talcottville alongside Marcia for a decade. He later went to work at Kraft-Heinz in Lowville as a chill roll operator, a job he later retired from.

A man with a deep appreciation for classic cars, Dave took meticulous care of his 1970 Chevelle, a vehicle he treasured and maintained with pride. He cherished the time he spent at his home in Florida, was a devoted NASCAR fan, and carried a lifelong love for animals of every kind.

Dave served on the Leyden Town Board for many years.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marcia; a very special niece, Sonja Downing; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Dave was predeceased by his parents and his siblings, June, Shirley, William Jr., and Colleen.

His memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post St., Boonville.
