AI-generated content may be incorrect.CARTHAGE/NEW BREMEN- It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Darleen Mary Leaf, 67, of Pine Drive, Carthage, formerly of New Bremen.  She passed peacefully on her birthday, July 8, 2026 in the comfort care room at Lewis County General Hospital.

 

A calling hour will be from 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 at Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.  A graveside service will follow at 2:15 p.m. at Petries Corners Cemetery, Watson.  We will be meeting at Watson Park after the burial, all are welcome.  Please bring a dish to pass. Donations may be made in memory of Darleen to The Lowville Food Pantry, 5502 Trinity Ave., Lowville, NY 13367.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

 

Darleen is survived by six children, April (Justin) Hall, Joy Hirschey, Thomas Leaf Jr., Jeremy Kampney, Matthew Potter, and Emily Potter; her significant other, Roger Potter; 20 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren and two coming in the fall; a sister, Virginia Fitzgerald, and four brothers, Randy Simmons, Kevin Simmons, Dennis Simmons, Andy Simmons; a step-brother, John Steria; several nieces, nephews and cousins.  She is predeceased by her siblings, Linda Windover, Steven Simmons, Elaine Simmons, Martha Simmons; her step mom, Patricia Steria; a step-brother, Joe Steria; a great-grandson, Douglas Babcock; and Kaitlynn Potter.

 

Darleen was born on July 8, 1959, a daughter of the late Stanley and Shirley Feisthamel Simmons and graduated from Beaver River Central School.  She was a homemaker and cared for her family.  A marriage to Thomas Leaf ended in divorce.  Darleen enjoyed doing puzzles, crossword puzzles, playing cards, playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She was a friend to all and will be greatly missed.
