The 200th Anniversary
of the Historic Lowville Village Band continues this Wednesday, July 8,
2026, with exciting music and events planned at Veterans Memorial Park.
Starting at
5:30PM, in the park, Lowville Free Library librarian, Ms. Meghan, will read
a story with a musical theme. Band members will be on hand to demonstrate
their instrument and tell a little bit about how it is played. Kids will
earn a sticker for each instrument station they visit. Kids who attend the
class will make an instrument, decorate it with
their stickers and play it in a song or two at the concert, becoming a
village band member for the day! Kids will make a shaker or
tambourine or other percussion instrument and play along on the song
"Living on a Prayer" ,"Funkytown", or "Shut up and Dance".
There will also
be an ice cream sundae social for the kids and
anyone else who attends the concert. Sundaes are free thanks to
Stewarts and are first come, first served while
the supplies last.
This week's
concert will also feature the mega pop hit "Africa" by Toto, and
the bright march called "Sounds of Spring"
The haunting theme from the movie "Gettysburg" will also
be featured.
The concert
begins at 7:00 PM and, in case of rain, the concert will be held at the fairgrounds under the pavilion.
Food provided by
Moose Knuckles will also be on hand and available for purchase beginning at
6:00 PM. Enjoy dinner and concert in the park! Bring a chair or
blanket or sit at one of the benches or tables located in beautiful
Veterans Memorial Park, located on Parkway Drive (behind the Fire Hall) in
downtown Lowville.
We hope to see
you there as we celebrate the historic Lowville Village Bands 200th Anniversary!
