AI-generated content may be incorrect.LOWVILLE- Robert Alan “Bob” Merry, 78, of Church Street passed away on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at his home under the loving care of his family and Lewis County Hospice.     

 

Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Shirley; two children, Matthew Robert (Kim) Merry of Richmond Hill, GA, Lynn Marie (Raymond) Moshier of Lowville; 8 grandchildren, Morgan L. (Jason) Jones, Mackenzie Moshier, Logan Merry, Brandon Moshier, Jared Moshier, Raina Moshier, Alexis Merry, and Kayley Moshier; three great-grandchildren, Peyton, Mason, and Colton Jones.  one sister, Donna Jean Merry of Adams Center, NY; He is predeceased by his parents, Ceylon and Pauline Merry; his twin brother, Richard Merry; and two sisters, who died at birth.

 

Robert was born on May 29, 1948 at Lewis County General Hospital, in Lowville, NY, a son of the late Ceylon and Pauline Austin Merry.  He graduated from Lowville Academy and Central School in 1966 and earned an Associate’s degree at Watertown School of Commerce.  Robert married Shirley Elizabeth Nortz on June 12, 1971 at Bethel Church of the Nazarene, Lowville.  Bob worked as a Communications Specialist for the NY National Guard, Fort Drum, NY and was a 30 year Veteran of the Armed Services, retiring in 2008. 

 

He was a member of First Mennonite Church, New Bremen.

 

He was an avid softball player in his younger years, and became a lover of all the old TV programs in his retirement.   Bob was a scooter enthusiast, and he loved to travel and camp.  He and his wife, Shirley, enjoyed traveling, especially spending winters in Georgia from 2010 to 2022.

 

Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday July 1, 2026 at Iseneker Funeral Home, 5702 Waters Road, Lowville, NY 13367, with Military Honors at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  A funeral service will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday July 1, 2026 at First Mennonite Church, New Bremen, 8383 NY-812, Lowville, NY 13367 with a burial following in the church cemetery.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Lewis County Humane Society, 6390 Pine Grove Road, Glenfield, NY 13343 or to The Friends of Lewis County Hospice, PO Box 266, Lowville, NY 13367.
