Jane E. Jones
TALCOTTVILLE/BOONVILLE- Jane E. Jones,
86, formerly of State Route 12D, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2026 at Sunset Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center
where she had resided since 2021.
She was born on
January 20, 1940 in Lowville, a daughter of the
late John Sr. and Irene Tanney Shue. Jane grew up in the Kelpytown area and attended Port Leyden High School. On
August 9, 1958, Jane married Stanley Jones in Port Leyden. The couple
settled on and operated the Jones family farm in Talcottville,
purchasing it in 1971 and later selling it to their grandson, Phillip, in
2004. Jane also worked in the laundry department at Sunset Nursing Home and
Rehabilitation Center, retiring after 15 years.
She enjoyed bird
watching, knitting, crocheting, crafts, puzzles, word searches, bus trips,
traveling to visit relatives near and far, and when Stanley was alive,
going out to eat every Sunday.
Jane was a member
of the Kelpytown Girls Red Hatters and the Leyden
Seniors.
Surviving are
three children, Stanley Jr. (Crystal) Jones of Talcottville,
Susan Farmbrough of Turin, and JoEllen (Fred) Fox of Talcottville;
one son-in-law, Bob Fox of Boonville; two sisters, Joann Golden of Arvada,
CO and Mary (Rodney) Holland of Wiggins, MS; 2 brothers, Kenny (Jane) Shue
of Ohio and John T. (Linda) Shue of Palmer, AK; one sister-in-law, Norma
Buda of Georgia; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and several
nieces and nephews.
She was
predeceased by her beloved husband of nearly 54 years, Stanley Jones Sr. on April 26, 2012; one daughter, Becky Fox; two
grandchildren, Hope and Joseph Jones; one sister, Shirley Coe; and two
brothers-in-law, Edward Golden and John Buda.
A memorial Mass
will be said at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, June 5, 2026
at Christ Our Hope St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Boonville with Rev.
Thomas Ward officiating. Calling hours will begin at 10:00 a.m. and go to
12:00 p.m. before Mass on Friday at Mills Funeral Home, 301 Post St.
Boonville. Together, Stanley and Jane will be buried in Talcottville
Cemetery following Mass. A luncheon after the burial will take place at the
Constableville Fire Department, 3059 Main St., Constableville, all are
welcome. Any food donations may be dropped off at the fire department any
time after 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Contributions in Jane’s memory may be made
to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284.
