LYONS FALLS – Herbert Allen
“Herb” Ehlers, 69, of Lyons Falls, N.Y. passed away at his home after a
brief illness on Sunday, May 31, 2026, where he was under the loving care
of his family and Lewis County Hospice.
A funeral Mass
will be said at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2026
at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Lowville, with Rev. Sony G. Pulickal, Pastor, officiating. There will be no calling
hours. A luncheon at 3-G Fire Department will immediately follow the
funeral Mass. Any food donations may be taken directly to 3-G Fire Hall on
Wednesday morning.

He is survived by
his beloved wife Linda; three children, Angie Ehlers and her three
children, Delaini, Demi and Dallas; Victor Ehlers and his four children,
Mena, Brynn, Lettie and Grae; Marissa Ehlers (Andrew) and their four
children, Mason, Lane, Hayes, and Hanson; two great grandchildren, Sloane
and Wren, and two on the way; three siblings, Ricky Ehlers, Randy (Laurie)
Ehlers, and Judy May; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Herb is
predeceased by his parents, a sister-in-law, Nancy Cook and a brother-in-law,
Ron May.
Herbert was born
on December 20, 1956 in Lowville, NY, a son of the
late Herbert and Dorothy “Dot” Stoffle Ehlers and graduated from South
Lewis Central School in 1975. He worked on the family farm. On April 23,
1977, he married Linda Marolf at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Glenfield.
Herb worked for Widmeyer Farm & Home, Getman’s
logging, and for the Town of Turin Highway Department, starting in 1996 and
retiring in 2019 as Highway Superintendent. He always kept busy with his
side jobs, running his bulldozer, backhoe, dump truck, and logging
equipment. Herb truly enjoyed driving log truck and helping on the family
farm. He was the life of the party and always had a “ol
mil” in hand. He enjoyed hunting, his camp, and golf. Herb always had
something funny to say and was always picking on the kids.
