Flag Retirement Ceremony June 14TH at
2 PM
The Lowville
American Legion will conduct a formal American Flag Retirement Ceremony on
Sunday, June 14th (Flag Day) at 2 pm to respectfully retire
literally over 2,000 American Flags.
When the United
States flag (Old Glory) becomes worn, torn, faded, or badly soiled, it is
time to replace it with a new flag, and the old flag should be
"retired" with all the dignity and respect befitting our nation's
flag.
We are not
burning a flag; we are retiring a symbol of America's honor, courage, and
strength.
This solemn
public ceremony takes roughly 15 minutes and will be conducted at the
Lowville American Legion.
The American
Legion is located at 5383 Dayan Street, Lowville. Call 376-3712.
Please visit our Military Museum located on the second floor (Open to the
Public)
