LOWVILLE, NY — The Lewis County Residential Health Care Facility (RHCF) commemorated National Skilled Nursing Care Week from May 11-15, 2026. The theme, Moments in Bloom, emphasizes how nurturing both major and minor moments allows residents to thrive and live with purpose.

On Monday, May 11th, the Residential Health Care Facility hosted a ceremony to honor the 2025 Caregivers

of the Year. LCHS Chief Executive Officer Gerald Cayer welcomed staff, residents, and their families, highlighting the entire team's exemplary care and heartfelt support of residents and families. RHCF Administrator Debra Wurz announced the award recipients, applauding their outstanding dedication.

“The Caregivers of the Year demonstrate heart, professionalism, and purpose daily and fully exemplify our ICARE values—Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence,” reflects CEO Gerald R. Cayer.

The 2025 Caregivers of the Year are Jacob Khan, CNA, Rachael Baslow, CNA, Laura Jones, Activities Aide, and Meagan Moser, Physical Therapist. They were selected for going above and beyond in providing care and support to residents.

Other Skilled Nursing Care Week events included: a donut day, where residents enjoyed fresh pastries together; a tulips and tea party with floral arrangements and specialty teas; a flower outing, offering residents the chance to visit a local garden; a spa day providing relaxation treatments; a resident and family barbecue paired with a classic car show, featuring vintage vehicles; live music performances by Dave Scanlin and Dominic Stoudt; a pizza and wing party; and the sharing of inspiring stories, a legacy video presentation, and a fresh cut flower bar for personalized bouquets. The nursing home team and volunteers enjoyed celebrating the commemorative week with residents and their families.

Lewis County Health System and the Residential Health Care Facility congratulate Jacob, Rachael, Laura, and Meagan on this well-deserved recognition.
