Constableville Man Pleads Guilty to Vehicular
Manslaughter and Aggravated DWI Charges from Fatal Accident in January in
Town of Martinsburg

Lowville, NY- Gabriel Moore,
51, of Constableville, appeared in Lewis County Court on Tuesday, with the Honorable
Daniel R. King presiding, to enter a plea in a case resulting from a fatal motor
vehicle accident on January 31, 2026, in the Town of
Martinsburg, that took the life of Mark Vaughn, of Copenhagen.
Mr. Moore entered
guilty pleas to one count each of first-degree
Vehicular Manslaughter, a Class C felony, and Aggravated Driving While
Intoxicated, an unclassified misdemeanor. During the plea allocution, Mr.
Moore admitted that on January 31, 2026 he
operated a motor vehicle on State Route 12 in the Town of Martinsburg with
a BAC of 0.18 or greater causing the death of Mark Vaughn.
Sentencing in the
case is scheduled for August 11, 2026 in Lewis
County Court. Based on the plea deal, Mr. Moore is expected to receive a
sentence between 5 to 15 years in State prison. Judge King remanded Mr. Moore to the Lewis County Jail while
awaiting sentencing.
