In keeping with Doug's wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral services.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.

 

He is survived by his twin brother Don; two nieces Julie (Steve) Cummings, Cherie (Kenny) Mealus; two great-nieces, Heather (Mark) Holland, Megan (Ben) Bradish and a sister-in-law, Joyce Mealus.  He is predeceased by his brother, Jim Mealus. 

 

Doug was born on February 13, 1946 in Lowville, a son of the late Howard and Rose Carrera Mealus.  He attended country school at Burdick's Crossing and General Martin High School.  After graduation, he continued to operate the family dairy farm with his twin brother Don until their retirement in 2010.  Doug was an avid outdoorsmen and one of his greatest passions was hunting at the North Pond Club. He also enjoyed fishing, riding ATV and family gatherings.
