NAUMBURG- Carol J. Noftsier, 86, of State Route 126, passed away on Saturday May 16, 2026 at Lewis County Residential Healthcare Facility.
A private
graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family at First
Mennonite Church Cemetery, New Bremen with Ed Steckly, Pastor, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Breakthough

She is survived
by three daughters and a son-in-law, Darcy Linn Pritchard of Lowville, NY,
Tara Denise Noftsier of Portland, OR, Jill and Dr. Thomas Knudsen of Seminole,
FL; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; three great-great
grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She is predeceased by her husband, Newell
C. Noftsier; a son, Chad W. Noftsier; two brothers, Alan Moody and Kevin
Moody.
Carol was born on
August 26, 1939 in Deferiet, NY, a daughter of the
late Luther Eugene Moody and Beverly Sanderson Moody, she graduated from
Carthage Central School. On March 1,
1957, she married Newell C. Noftsier at the Deferiet Union Church. The couple lived on the Second Road for
many years, moving to Naumburg in 1970.
Newell passed away on February 13, 2008. Carol worked at Carthage Area Hospital as
a CNA and later as a medical ward secretary. She was instrumental in getting a workers
union set up at a time when it was very difficult to do so. Carol loved her job and colleagues and
retired after more than 20 years there.
Through the years, she proudly raised money for the Juvenile
Diabetes Foundation to help raise awareness about diabetes in children and
to help find a cure. She also raised
money for the American Heart Association.
Carol loved
crocheting, cooking, entertaining and taking care of her
grandchildren. She always had a
large garden and canned many vegetables and loved to experiment with dill
pickles. Carol and Newell enjoyed
going up to their camp and being in the woods by the water. She always had a cup of coffee and a meal
for anyone stopping by. Carol was an
avid reader and had a spectacular book collection.
