Copenhagen, NY- The
Copenhagen Central School District will hold their annual Budget Review
Meeting on May 05, 2026, at 6 p.m. in the school cafeteria, to present the
2026-27 spending plan.
The proposed $12,795,927
budget for the 2026-2027 school year is a $116,201 (0.92 percent) increase
over the $12,679,726 approved for the current school year. The tax levy, the
amount to be collected through taxes, is proposed to increase by 2 percent
from $1,952,401 to $1,991,449. This exceeds the district’s allowed tax cap
increase calculated by New York state at negative 2.4 percent, meaning the budget
vote will require a supermajority of 60 percent of voters for approval.
The district’s
budget vote and Board of Education election will take place on Tuesday, May
19, from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the gym foyer.
Two seats on the
Board of Education are up for election, with both incumbent candidates- Lynn
Murray and Robert Stackel- running unopposed for new five-year terms.
More information
on the candidates and spending plan can be viewed in the district’s 2026-27 Budget
Newsletter here.
