BOCES is pleased to announce the appointment of Christina Chamberlain as
the next Assistant Superintendent for Programs. The Board of Education
formally approved the appointment at their meeting Wednesday, May 13, 2026.
Chamberlain
currently serves as the Superintendent for the South Jefferson Central
School District. She brings a strong background in education and school
leadership to this new role.
“The work
undertaken by BOCES is grounded in advancing high quality, equitable, and
innovative programing,” says Chamberlain. “I am excited to continue that
work with the teams in place and collaborate with the component school
districts to ensure students in the region receive a quality education.”
Chamberlain
brings over 20 years of educational and administrative experience to BOCES.
She served for 12 years as a special education teacher in the Indian River,
Sandy Creek and South Jefferson school districts. At Indian River,
Chamberlain served as Assistant Supervisor of Special Education and Federal
Programs, PreK-12 Curriculum Director, and Assistant Superintendent of
Curriculum and Instruction. She has served as the Superintendent of the
South Jefferson Central School District since 2023.
“Serving the
South Jefferson community has been one of the greatest professional honors
of my career. I am incredibly proud of all that we in the district have
accomplished together and deeply grateful for the relationships,
experiences, and shared commitment to students that have defined my time
there,” says Chamberlain
Chamberlain
earned bachelor’s degrees in English and Textual Studies and Secondary
Education from Syracuse University. She also earned her master’s
degrees in Education in Students with Disabilities and English
Language Arts from Le Moyne College. Chamberlain received her Certificate
of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Educational Administration from SUNY Oswego.
With this
appointment, Chamberlain will be working closely with BOCES’ 18 component
school districts to ensure quality and innovative instructional programming
is offered to students in our region via career & technical, adult
& continuing, and special education. Her new role will also include
ensuring effective and relevant professional development continues to be
provided to educators in this region.
“As I step into
this new role, I look forward to building strong partnerships, with
meaningful collaboration, and learning from the expertise that already
exists throughout our programs,” says Chamberlain. “It is
clear that BOCES has a strong tradition of innovation, service, and
student-centered work and I am eager to contribute to the continued success
and growth of these fantastic programs. I look forward to meeting with
members of the BOCES Team to gauge their ideas for how we can continue
creating impactful opportunities for students across our component
districts.”
“We are excited
about Christina's extensive leadership experience in curriculum and
instruction as well as her background and special education
administration,” says Christopher DiFulvio, BOCES District Superintendent.
“She has spent many years as a school district leader, most recently a
superintendent, and will be a key leader in helping not only elevate our
BOCES programming but supporting our component districts, school and
district level leaders, and superintendents.”
Chamberlain will
be the successor to Leslie LaRose-Collins, who will be retiring on July 31.
Chamberlain’s tentative start date is August 13, but BOCES will be working
with the South Jefferson Board of Education regarding an official start
date.
