All are welcome and encouraged to attend and share memories of Betty. In lieu of flowers or food donations, please consider making a donation to The Volunteer Transport Center: 24685 Rt. 37 Watertown, NY 13601.  Betty used this organization for her appointments traveling over 3 counties and she made many lifelong friends by utilizing this service.

She is survived by a son, Patrick Pound of Fort Lauderdale, FL; a daughter Bethany and Tony Williams of Heuvelton, NY; cherished granddaughters and great-grandsons; Abby and Chris Prashaw (Norfolk, NY) Shelby and Colin Martin, Lincoln and Carter of (Liverpool, NY) Kelsey Williams and Mike Wielgosz (Buffalo, NY) and Molly Williams and Shay Brenno (Canton, NY). Betty is also survived by a sister; Linda and Matthew Beck (Georgia) and nephews Stephen and Christine Beck (Matthew, Jack, and Mackenzie) and Brian and Aga Beck (Hania and Aleksandra). Betty had 2 bonus daughters in her life: JoAnn and Jason Walters and Carol and Shawn Rebb of Beaver Falls and a bonus granddaughter Jenna Walters.

She is predeceased by her parents (Stephen and Helen Niezabytoski), husband Charlie (July 25, 2015), son-in-law Mark Parolin, and grandson Nicholas Williams.

Betty was born on July 21, 1943 in Lowville, NY, a daughter of Stephen and Helen Smykla Niezabytoski.  On April 1, 1966 she married Charles Pound at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lowville, NY. For years you could find Betty creating floral arrangements for weddings and other special occasions, specifically Christmas wreaths and centerpieces that she would give to friends and family. Betty enjoyed life, whether it was car rides with Charlie up the Beaver River, camping for decades at Long Point State Park, attending every sporting event, award ceremony, or graduation that included her granddaughters, and shopping at the Dollar Store or watching Hallmark Christmas movies. You also knew if you visited her home, you would never leave hungry. Betty was an outstanding cook, with her specialties being homemade applesauce, banana bread, chocolate chip cookies, coffee cakes made annually for hunting camp, or her famous pierogies. Any obstacle that Betty faced health wise was met with her whit, courage, and perseverance. Betty always managed to make those that she encountered laugh and made the most out of every day.

There are many individuals the family would like to thank for their kindness, compassion, and dedication to helping Betty live independently in her own home: The Home Health Nursing Staff of Lewis County, Holly O’Donnell, Reverend Donald Manfred, and the Lewis County Extended-Stay Facility. Betty was also blessed with lifelong friendships that remained a steady source of care, companionship, and shared memories. She cherished the bonds she held with dear friends, including Pat and Robert Adams, Arline and Jim Bush, Ben and Josie Domingo, and Roger Schwartzentruber, among many others who continued to look after her, support her, and keep her connected through the years.

Any phone call with Betty ended with her familiar, “Love yaaaa”, a phrase that carried so much warmth. With her granddaughters, she added her own special touch, “Love yaaa, kinda, sorta, maybe, always” words that will echo in their memories and remind them of the deep affection she held for them. Betty’s voice, humor, and love will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

The family would also like to express a heartfelt thank you to Jennifer Iseneker and staff for handling the funeral arrangements for Elizabeth N. Pound. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.isenekerfuneralhome.com .
