Naturally Lewis, Inc. Opens Applications for Lewis
County Leadership Academy
LEWIS COUNTY - Naturally Lewis,
Inc. is announcing that applications for the Lewis County Leadership
Academy Class of 2026-2027 are open through July 1, 2026. This is a
competitive application process open to anyone living or working in Lewis
County, New York.
The Lewis County
Leadership Academy is a transformational ten-month professional development
program growing the next generation of business
and community leaders in Lewis County. In collaboration with Human Factor
Leadership, we've designed a curriculum that includes:
- Personalized development based on a
behavioral core strengths assessment.
- Interactive workshops structured
to meet you where you are and get you to where you want to be.
- Community immersion to experience the
richness of Lewis County and the people within it.
"Amazing
things happen when you connect people and create an environment to learn
new things and encourage collaboration,” says Joanne Witt, Naturally Lewis
Executive Director. “The Lewis County Leadership Academy provides a place
for individual and community growth to improve quality of life for everyone
in Lewis County.”
The Lewis County
Leadership Academy will meet once a month beginning in September 2026 and
ending in June 2027. Curriculum topics include:
- Leadership & Professional Development
- History & Agriculture
- Social Determinants of Health
- Economic Development
- Local Government
- Drum Country, NY & Fort Drum
- Tourism & Recreation
- Completion & Presentation of a SOAR
Analysis
Naturally Lewis,
Inc. invites all business and community leaders, emerging and existing, to
apply for the Leadership Academy and is committed expanding
access to the Leadership Academy through new and returning funding
partnerships.
Support from the
United Way of Northern New York through the Renee Beyer Fund will provide
$300–$500 scholarships for small business owners in Lewis County, honoring
Renee Beyer’s legacy of strengthening community leadership. Applicants
interested in partial scholarship support should indicate this in their
application.
Tuition
assistance is also available for nonprofit employees at Lewis County
organizations with fewer than 20 employees through a partnership with the
Northern New York Community Foundation. Recipients will be selected based
on application quality. The Northern New York Community Foundation is
partnering with Naturally Lewis to provide tuition support for nonprofit
employees applying to the Leadership Academy (please see application for
additional details).
Applications must
be submitted by July 1, 2026 for consideration.
