Ruth was born July 28, 1936 in Margaretville, NY, the daughter of the late Erma Mae Potter.  She attended school in West Winfield, where she remembered her school bus driver “Mum” who would let Ruth open and close the bus door at the stops.  In 1969 she earned her license to drive school bus in Cooperstown, NY after her husband bet her that she couldn’t do it.  Ruth went to work at Lowville Academy and Central School on August 10, 1970.  In 1972, Ruth’s marriage to Robert Lynn Miller ended in divorce, and she became a waitress and prepared barns for whitewashing in order to support her family. Ruth was a member of the former First Baptist Church in Castorland.  She loved animals, having a pony, ducks, chickens, cats, dogs, Guinea pigs and a hand-raised woodchuck.  Ruth enjoyed collecting owl figurines, dolls, angels and cardinals.  She enjoyed driving her Smart car, motorcycling, and dancing.  Ruth will be forever missed.
