GLENFIELD- Gaile Elizabeth
(Kerr) Sharpe passed from this life on Thursday, March 19, following a
short illness. Born in Lowville, NY, on October 25, 1948,
to Elizabeth (Lauber) Kerr and Randolph E. Kerr, Gaile attended the
General Martin School in Glenfield and Canton High School in Canton, NY;
she graduated in 1966 from Guilderland Central High School in Guilderland,
NY. Gaile recounted many fond memories from her school days, especially of
her friends and times in Canton. Gaile graduated from SUNY Potsdam in 1970
with a degree in Elementary Education and later taught in schools in Greig
and Delmar, NY, and in London, England. Gaile’s love for children was
profound.
Gaile spent a
long career helping others, primarily in caring for disabled children and
adults, but also in nannying and in-home caregiving. She had a deep love
for God, a Christian faith, and was most recently a regular attendee at
Grace Fellowship Church in Latham, NY, where she found lasting friendships.
Gaile was much loved by many and will be sorely missed.
Gaile is
predeceased by her parents, Randy and Liz Kerr of Greig, NY. She is
survived by her former husband, Roger Sharpe of Kings Langley, England;
sister Lynne Small; brothers Randy (Cindy), Kevin (Susan), and Michael
(Lisa) Kerr; nieces and nephews David (Dee) Hughes, Jennifer Hughes, Randy
(Sue) Kerr III, Ian Kerr, Maureen (Rick) Grisolini, Lauren (Andrew) Ugalde,
Pegeen Kerr, Rosemary Kerr, and Alexander Kerr; grandnieces and nephews,
Marissa (Andrew) Dalbey, Cameron Hughes, Moira Roberts, Finnley Kerr,
Jackson Kerr, and Arielle Wright; and great-grandnephew Parker Dalbey.
A private funeral
service will be held at New Comer Cremations &
Funerals, 181 Troy-Schenectady Road, in Watervliet, NY. Interment will be
at Old Glendale Cemetery in Glenfield, NY, later this year. In lieu of
flowers, please consider making a donation to the
charity of your choice in Gaile’s name.
