LEWIS COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY FEATURED PET OF THE WEEK

New pet featured each Wednesday!

February 25, 2026: PATCHINO

A dog standing on a red blanket

AI-generated content may be incorrect.Patchino Still Waiting for His Forever Home…Patchino is a friendly, energetic three-year-old male with a big personality and an even bigger heart. Weighing in at 76 pounds, this handsome boy may look like a sturdy athlete, but in his mind, he’s a lap dog through and through. Patchino first found his way to Jefferson County Dog Control some time ago. After being adopted, it appears he was later abandoned. On November 28, he was picked up again by Dog Control and brought to the Lewis County Humane Society, where he is currently waiting for a second chance. During the time he was loose, a neighbor reported that Patchino regularly came by to play with her two Labrador retrievers, showing his friendly and social nature. When he first arrived at the shelter, he seemed to enjoy the company of other dogs. Patchino is great with people and would likely do well in a home with children. However, because of his size and strength, he may accidentally knock over very young kids during play. He is an active, strong dog who would thrive with an owner prepared to give him regular exercise and guidance. Patchino does have a strong prey drive and would not be suitable for a home with cats. Sadly, shelter life has begun to take toll on him. After spending an extended period in a kennel environment, Patchino has started to regress and has not done as well meeting some of the more recent dogs. This is not uncommon for high-energy dogs in a shelter setting, but it makes finding him a home all the more urgent. Patchino is a gorgeous, loving dog who deserves stability, companionship, and a family committed to him for life. With structure, activity, and affection, he will make a wonderful and loyal companion. If you are interested in giving Patchino the forever home he deserves, please contact the Lewis County Humane Society.

Check out pictures of all the cats, kittens, dogs and puppies at the shelter ready for adoption on our new Facebook page Lewis County Humane Society NY 501c3. Application forms and information can be found at lewiscountyhumanesociety.org/adopt
