McCarey Sr.
 Patrick H. McCarey Sr., 76 of Pitcairn
and formerly of Oswego, died at his home on Monday, February 9, 2026.
Patrick was born
on May 13, 1949, in Oswego, New York, the son of the late Joseph H. and
Laura (Darling) McCarey Sr. He attended Oswego schools and went on to
become a plumber and pipefitter. A hardworking and dedicated man, Patrick
was employed by J&K and J&A Boilers and was a member of Plumbers
and Pipefitters Union Local 73 out of Oswego, retiring around 2005.
Patrick was an
avid hunter and fisherman. He belonged to the Long Pond Club, Edwards Snow
Sled Club, Greenwood Falls Hunting Club, and the Harrisville Rod and Gun
Club. He enjoyed spending time at Twin Pines and The Golden Glow, where he
had a lot of great friends. Patrick was always ready to lend a hand to
friends and strangers alike. He loved snowmobiling,ATV
riding,camping, and
playing the spoons.
Patrick is
survived by his two children, Carol McCarey (Todd Wilcox) of Auburn and
Patrick McCarey II (Billijo Blair) of Oswego; four grandchildren, Doug,
Nick, and Eric Miller, and Megan McCarey; two great-grandchildren, Malakai
and Vienna Miller; two siblings, Robert (Gigi) McCarey and Teresa (Tim)
Powers as well as several nieces, nephews, and many close friends.
In addition to
his parents, Joseph and Laura, Patrick was predeceased by his
great-granddaughter, Aspen Miller; his sister, Barbara Dalziell
; his brothers, George and Joe McCarey; his nephews, Christopher Farley,Micah McCarey, Joey
McCarey; and his beloved best friend of 13 years, his Goldendoodle, Hunter.
A Celebration of
Patrick’s Life will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, at Twin Lakes in Star
Lake, beginning at noon.
