Marjorie J. Lyndaker
COPENHAGEN- Marge Lyndaker
was born Marjorie Jean Smith on April 10, 1958 in Watertown,
NY and passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Thursday, February 26th.
She married Jeffry Lyndaker on May 6, 1978.
She and Dad spent
over fifty years together building a home. Collecting treasures at
auctions, using their own hands to form wood from her childhood home and
their own land into floors, cupboards, and trim, and filling that space
with her family.
She was a friend,
a partner, a confidant, a wife, and everything
more to Dad throughout her life. She raised four wonderful, stubborn,
smart-mouthed children. She doted on five beautiful, intelligent, and
sometimes equally stubborn grandchildren. She was the giver of ear
scratches and hot dogs to many furry companions. She photographed and
researched hundreds of birds from her porch and fed her family (as well as
the local bunnies and deer) from a garden planted with her own hands.
Mom spent
incalculable hours in libraries and among dusty and digital records,
weaving together the story of our family’s history. She crocheted a blanket
from the yarn of everyone who came before, together with those of us here
now, for all of those who will follow after.
Mom retired from a
career with Northern Federal Credit Union after spending over twenty years
working with the communities in Lowville, Watertown, and West
Carthage. She spoke fondly of her
colleagues and truly enjoyed sharing life stories with customers as they
stopped into the banks.
We say goodbye the
same way we always do. “Love you, Mom. We’ll see you soon. Watch out for
deer.”
Marge is survived
by her husband Jeffry Lyndaker. Her children, Mariah (Jeff) Becker of Falls
Church, VA, Aaron (Melissa) Lyndaker of Ithaca, NY, Amanda (Alison) Lyndaker
of Hyattsville, MD, and Matthew (Raul) Lyndaker of Jacksonville, FL. Her grandchildren, Kaylee, Elessandra, Fyodor, William, and Charlotte. Her
siblings, Barb Gurnee of Baldwinsville, NY, Robert (Susan) Smith of Baldwinsville,
NY, Joseph (Donna) Smith of Sherrill, NY,
Paul (Peggy) Smith of Lowville, NY, Shirley (Richard) Bloss of West
Carthage, NY, Charmaine Warden of Gilmer, TX, Cindy (Bruce) Aubin of Watson,
NY, Tammy Rodgers of Jacksonville, FL, Chris Lyndaker of Redfield, NY,
Brian Lyndaker of Copenhagen, NY.
She is predeceased
by her parents Herman and Mary Curtis Smith, her sister Carolyn Rousaw of Massena,
NY, and her sisters in law, Susie Lyndaker of Copenhagen, NY and Sandy (Bill)
Coliet of Copenhagen, NY.
Her family would
like to thank the team at Lewis County General Hospital. Their care and attention were very
appreciated during a difficult time.
