CASTORLAND- Danny P. Ritz,
57, of Artz Road, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026
at Upstate Medical University Hospital, Syracuse, after a brief illness.
He is survived by
his beloved wife, Jerrie; three sons, Tyler Ritz, Jordan Ritz, and Connor
Ritz (Autumn Wells); three step-sons, Kyle (Shaylin) Mellnitz,
Jarrett Mellnitz, Cory Mellnitz; five grandchildren, Isabella Grace Ritz,
Quinn Thomas Ritz, Addilynn Scott Ritz, Sawyer Joseph Ritz, Hayden Dennis
Mellnitz; two sisters, Michelle (Steve) Tanner, Cheryl (Brian) Camidge; four
brothers, Mark (Kelly) Ritz, Steve (Mary) Ritz, Pat (Sylvia) Ritz, Ed (Sue)
Ritz; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his parents.
Danny was born on
November 15, 1968, in Carthage, New York, a son of the late, Jack and Joy
Mulvaney Ritz. He graduated from
Harrisville Central School in 1986. On
June 9, 2012, Danny married the former Geraldine “Jerrie” Spann at the home
of Jerrie’s aunt, Rose Spann, with Rose, who was Martinsburg Town Justice,
officiating. Danny worked for D.C.
Building Systems in Watertown for over 20 years before going to work for
Powis Excavating and Contracting, Copenhagen, for the past five years.
He enjoyed
fishing with his sons, they took several fishing
charter trips together. Danny
enjoyed taking drives looking for deer.
He enjoyed drag racing at ESTA drag strip in Cicero. Danny loved his 1974 Pontiac
Ventura. He had an immense love for all of his grandchildren, especially his pride and joy, Isabella
Grace.
In keeping with
Danny’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or funeral service. A Celebration of Life Gathering will be
