“John exemplifies the spirit of excellence, going above and beyond to support the team and those we serve,” stated Gerald R. Cayer, LCHS Chief Executive Officer.  “His knowledge and win-win attitude have inspired us and truly embody the spirit of a champion.”

John started working at the facility in 1996 with Monnat & Sons Plumbing and Heating, and in 2018 he transitioned to a full-time hospital HVAC technician.  The coworker who nominated John as Employee of the Month stated, “He is a pleasure to work with and always responds promptly to requests with a smile on his face. John is friendly, respectful, helpful, and such a hard worker.  He never leaves a job undone, oftentimes doing more than initially anticipated. John’s calm demeanor and depth of knowledge provide a source of comfort to staff and patients.”

Mr. Hoppel says he “was shocked and honored to receive the Employee of the Year award.  He truly enjoys his work and the great people he works with, and he thinks of the facility and equipment as his own and does his best to take care of the people in it.”

Each Employee of the Month went above and beyond normal expectations, representing the health system's ICARE values of Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence.

Human Resources Director Jessica Skiff recognized the 2025 Employees of the Month: January – Nola Barry, RN, February – Lacey Egnew, RN, March – Amy Morrow, Cleaner, April – Mackenzie Dorrity, LPN, May – Michelle Wolff, Senior Keyboard Specialist, June – Charise Braithwaite, Patient Account Coder, July – Molly Potter, Cleaner, August – Melanie Bush Occupational Therapist, September – Meghan Forte, Physician Office Assistant, October – Holly Hanno, Food Service Helper, November – John Hoppel, HVAC Technician, and December – Scott Sauter, Network System Analyst.

Mrs. Skiff said, “The Olympics are about the spirit of excellence—a relentless pursuit of being better today than you were yesterday. Just like in the Olympics, each of our employees of the month's hard work and passion make them all true champions in our organization!”

John is a Beaver River Central School graduate and a Technical Career Institute for HVAC.  When he is not making a difference at LCHS, John enjoys spending time with his wife, Kari, and their ten children and nine grandchildren.
