CASTORLAND- LeEtta R. Owens,
86, formerly of State Route 410 in Castorland, passed away on Friday, January
30, 2026 at Sunset Nursing and Rehabilitation
Center, Boonville, where she has resided for nearly a year.
She is survived
by a two adopted children, Dora Owens of Watertown and John Owens of
Castorland; a grandson, Nathan Owens of Castorland; her siblings, Alvin Zehr, Jr. of Lowville;
Eunice Gingerich of Lowville; Paul and Mary Zehr of Lititz, PA, Elizabeth
and Roger Crassie of Clarence, NY, Lena Zehr of Lancaster, PA; Vera
Ferguson of KY; Mary Graves of Castorland, NY; Arthur Zehr of IL; David and
Mary Zehr of Brewerton, NY; several in-laws, nieces, nephews and
cousins. She is predeceased by her
husband, Albert; and her siblings, Ellen, Rev.
Richard, Pearl, Kenneth, Adeline, Beulah, Lloyd, Mark, and Joseph.
LeEtta was born
on July 20, 1939 at home in Naumburg, NY, a
daughter of the late Alvin and Vera Moser Zehr. She attended country school and Beaver
Falls High School. LeEtta did
domestic work and worked on the family farm. She also worked at Beaverite
in Croghan for six years before her marriage. On June 21, 1969, she married Albert
Charles Owens at Lowville Mennonite Church.
LeEtta raised her family and worked as a caregiver for U.S. Care,
Lowville for many years. She was a
past Caregiver of the Year. Albert
passed away on October 19, 2024.
She was a member
of the Bethel Church of Nazarene in Lowville.
LeEtta enjoyed
reading and taking care of her family.
The funeral will
be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 4, 2026
at Naumburg Mennonite Church. A
calling hour will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00
a.m. prior to the funeral at church.
Spring burial will be in Castorland Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be
made to Jefferson Rehabilitation Center, 420 Gaffney Street, Watertown, NY
13601.
