The Port Leyden Food Bank, sponsored by
St. Martin's Parish located in the church's rectory, received a
donation of 800 items from the South Lewis School Jr. High National Honor Society on Monday, December 21st. The students
hold a challenge amongst classes to help collect needed supplies under the
guidance of their advisor, McKayla Gesullo. The food bank serves
southern Lewis County, however no one is turned
away. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Monday-Friday, or by appointment by
calling 315-348-5575. Chris Chaufty directs the food bank. The Food Bank of
Central New York helps supply needed items as well as grants that are
secured to purchase items. Other area churches (not just Catholic) also
donate items.
