AI-generated content may be incorrect.CROGHAN- Wilbur J. Jantzi, of Kirschnerville Road, passed away on Monday morning, December 22, 2025 at the Lewis County General Hospital.

 

He is survived by his children and their spouses; Jeanette and Darrell Roggie of Castorland; Emily and Glenn Beller of Carthage; Stanley and Christine Jantzi of Croghan; Alan and Dawn Jantzi of Croghan; 15 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister-in-law, Lyle and Shirley Jantzi of Adams; a brother-in-law, Clarence Haldeman; many nieces, nephews and cousins.  He is predeceased by his beloved wife Florence, who passed away on November 22, 2019; three sisters, Freda Roggie, Grace Haldeman; and Cleo Jantzi who passed away in infancy; and two brothers; Maynard Jantzi and Lawrence Jantzi.

 

Wilbur was born on July 16, 1936 in Martinsburg, NY, a son of the late Mahlon and Ruth Ressler Jantzi. 

 

He attended school in Martinsburg and Glenfield and later in Mannsville.  Wilbur worked on the Harvey Gingerich farm for four years.  On October 27, 1956 he married Florence Moser at the Lowville Mennonite Church with Rev. Lloyd Boshart officiating.  He did 1W service in Brattleboro, VT from 1957-1959.  They moved to Whitesville, NY for 15 years, owning and operating two farms.  The family later bought A farm on the Mattis Road and operated it until 2010.  The farm is now owned by Wilbur’s grandson Jaren Jantzi.  Wilbur looked forward to gathering with his seniors group at church.  He enjoyed having coffee with friends at Moving Mountains Café daily, going to auctions and vegetable gardening. 

 

Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. – 12:45p.m. on Saturday, December 27, 2025 at Naumburg Mennonite Church, with the funeral service to follow at 1:00 p.m. with Pastors Titus Mast, Paul Mast and Greg Widrick officiating.  Spring burial will be in Croghan Mennonite Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Mennonite Disaster Service, P.O. Box 546, Lowville, NY 13367.  Arrangements are with Iseneker Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
