Lowville Turkey Trot 2025
The annual Lowville Turkey Day 5K
continues to bring together runners, walkers and families for a great start
to the Thanksgiving Holiday. The weather is always a surprise on
Thanksgiving Day and this year was no different
with blustery snow and a temperature of 33 degrees. 240 participants made
their way around the challenging 5K course. It is great to see so many
people gather together to raise money for a good
cause and enjoy a healthy start to the Turkey Day.
The event is a
family fun run with no official timing or awards. Many participants dress
in holiday attire and the number of runners under the age of eighteen is
outnumbering the older generations. The fastest runners moved quickly
through the 5 K this year. Alexis Bach Laribee finished in 22:58, just
beating out Linnea Haney in 23:01. Grace Fitzgerald, a regular top
finisher, rounded out the top 3 in a time of 23:15 for a close ladies
race. For the men, brothers Conner and Mazon Zehr from the Beaver River running
juggernaut crossed the line together in 18:05. Dylan Durgan came in third
with a time of 19:03.
Double Play
Community Center is proud to host the fourteenth annual Lowville Turkey Day
5K. The Turkey Day 5K donates all its proceeds to the United Way Renee
Beyer Memorial Fund with over $2,500 raised this year and over $27,000
raised since 2014. Double Play Community Center has been dedicated to
raising funds for this cause with multiple events each year. The Lowville
Turkey Day 5K will be back in 2026 to kick off the Thanksgiving holiday. If
