United Way of Northern New York Announces $228,200 in
2026 Community Impact Grants
Thanksgiving message celebrates generosity across the
North Country
WATERTOWN, NY — As families
across the North Country gather in gratitude this Thanksgiving season,
United Way of Northern New York (UWNNY) is honored to announce $228,200
in Community Impact Grants for 2026. These investments, made possible
through the generosity of individual donors, workplace campaigns, and local
partners, will support programs that strengthen families and expand
opportunity across Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence Counties. Grants were
awarded in three priority areas: health and wellness, child and youth
success, and economic stability.
In addition to
continued support for longstanding partners such as Watertown Urban
Mission, the Ogdensburg Boys and Girls Club, and Lewis County
Opportunities, UWNNY is also pleased to welcome several new Community
Impact partners in 2026. These include the Community Health Center of the
North Country, Massena Meals on Wheels, St. Lawrence County Community
Development Program, St. Lawrence County People Project, and Cornell
Cooperative Extension of Lewis County, broadening our regional footprint
and deepening our ability to meet local needs.
Community Impact
Grants are part of a broader investment strategy. When paired with UWNNY’s
additional targeted funds and special initiatives, including support for
working households known as ALICE (Asset-Limited, Income-Constrained,
Employed) and the Getting Ahead workshop series, total community
investments in 2026 will exceed $350,000, expanding opportunity and
strengthening stability for families across the North Country.
“Thanksgiving
reminds us that the heart of our region is kindness,” said Dawn Cole,
President & CEO of United Way of Northern New York. “Every dollar
contributed to the Community Impact Fund reflects a neighbor helping a
neighbor. Because of that generosity, more people will be fed, housed,
supported, and connected in the coming year.”
The 2026
Community Impact Grant awards were reviewed by a volunteer Community Review
Panel that included nonprofit leaders, community members, and graduates of
the Getting Ahead program, who evaluated applications based on need,
service gaps, and expected impact.
