CONSTABLEVILLE- Mary Elizabeth
Mathis, 87, of Constableville, passed away at her home in Brookside Senior
Living Community on Friday October 3, 2025.
A funeral Mass
will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday October 10, 2025
at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Constableville with Rev. Daniel Chapin,
Pastor officiating. Burial will
follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Constableville. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be
made to Constableville Volunteer Fire Company, P.O. Box 438,
Constableville, NY 13325 or Catholic Charities U.S.A. (ccusa.careasy.org). Arrangements are with Iseneker
Funeral Home, Inc., Lowville.
She is survived
by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Catherine and Scott Lee of
Lowville; Judy and Thomas Rookey of Sackets Harbor; Joyce and Steven
Feigeles of Westampton, NJ; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Bethany,
Alexander, Amanda, Evelyn, and Carolyn; three great-grandchildren, Jacob,
Abygale, and Brooklyn; a sister, Patricia Barnes, and a brother John “Jack”
Conway. She is predeceased by her
beloved husband, Raymond L. Mathis who passed away on September 20, 2001; and a brother, Francis Conway.
Mary was born on
July 1, 1938 in Syracuse, NY, a
daughter of the late John and Katherine Gillette Conway. She was five years old when her dad passed
away, and the family moved to Houseville where
she grew up and graduated from General Martin High School in 1956. On September 26, 1959
she married Raymond L. Mathis at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Constableville
with Rev. Thomas J. Robillard officiating.
She worked at Community Bank in Lowville as a teller, Lyons Falls
Pharmacy, and the cafeteria at Constableville Elementary School. Mary
retired from the school in 2005.
She was a
communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Constableville. She was a devout Catholic and prayed the
rosary every night. Mary also
enjoyed traveling. Most of all, Mary
loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and family very
much.
